Ajrakh, also spelled as "Ajrak," is a traditional form of block-printed textile originating from the Kutch region of Gujarat, India, and parts of Sindh in Pakistan. Renowned for its intricate geometric and floral patterns, Ajrakh fabrics are characterized by a rich color palette of indigo blue and crimson red, often complemented by black and white motifs. ​

The creation of Ajrakh textiles is a meticulous process involving multiple stages of resist dyeing and block printing using natural dyes such as indigo and madder. This labor-intensive technique results in fabrics that are not only visually striking but also hold deep cultural and historical significance, reflecting the artistic heritage of the region. ​

Traditionally, Ajrakh prints have been used to make garments like shawls, turbans, and sarees, serving as a symbol of identity and pride for the communities in Kutch and Sindh. The patterns often draw inspiration from nature, featuring elements like flowers, leaves, and stars, and are designed with a sense of harmony and rhythm.
